The Role: Welder / Fabricator


Location: Cardiff (Workshop based)

Salary: £26,000 – £28,500 per annum (Dependent on experience)

Working hours: 37.50 hours per week – 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday

Role Responsibilities:


  • Perform Welding operations, using various welding techniques – predominately MIG Welding, but also TIG and aluminium, according to detailed engineering/production drawings
  • Fabricate items to the high standards expected of our work, ensuring welds are strong and durable whilst adhering to strict deadlines
  • Liaise and collaborate with colleagues across different departments to achieve project goals
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings
  • To conduct weld procedures and inspections to identify defects and ensuring compliance with specifications
  • The ability to work with different types of metals and alloys, understanding their properties and the appropriate welding methods to use
  • Ensuring welding and fabrication equipment is maintained in good working order, reporting any issues for repair
  • Following strict health and safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Record Keeping and documentation
  • Any other duties that may be reasonable and within the scope of the position


The successful candidate will have:


  • Previous experience in a similar role within the welding and fabrication industry, demonstrating practical skills and knowledge.
  • Understanding of industry standards and best practices in welding and fabrication processes.
  • Proficiency in various welding techniques such as MIG, TIG and aluminium welding.
  • Experience in reading and interpreting engineering/production drawings/blueprints to fabricate metal components.
  • Knowledge and understanding of different metals and their properties, as well as the ability to work with metal cutting, shaping, and bending equipment.
  • Precision and attention to detail with the ability to produce welds and fabrications with high accuracy and quality standards..
  • Capability to troubleshoot and resolve issues related to welding and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work well as part of a team, collaborating with colleagues and supervisors.
  • Consistency in delivering work to deadlines and meeting quality standards.
  • Willingness to adapt to different tasks and work environments as required by the job.
  • A positive attitude and a willingness to learn new skills


Desirable Skills

  • Relevant certifications such as City & Guilds, NVQs, or equivalent in welding and fabrication.
  • Awareness and adherence to health and safety regulations such as CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) or similar.
