Salary: £30,000 – £35,000 dependant on experience

Working hours: 37.5 hours per week – 8am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday

Contract: Full-Time

About the Role

The Design Supervisor will support the design team’s daily operations, ensuring projects meet both creative and technical requirements. Acting as a key link between designers, the Design Manager, clients and internal departments, this role ensures projects are successfully executed from initial concept to production-ready documentation, including construction drawings and technical models. The Design Supervisor will provide hands-on guidance, oversee design documentation, and maintain quality control throughout each phase of the process.

This position requires a balance of technical expertise and creative problem-solving, to ensure the delivery of high-quality, innovative designs that meet client expectations and are fully prepared for manufacturing.

At Wild Creations we Design, Manufacture and Install Props & Scenery for the Entertainment, Marketing & Theme Park Industries.

Our 39,000 sq.ft facilities in the heart of Cardiff, UK is home to a number of specialised departments, including Design, Project Management, Sculpting, Prop & Model Making, Moulding & Casting, Carpentry, Metalwork, Scenic Art, Finishing & Spray Shop, and an Automation Shop that can accommodate 3D Scanning & Printing, Vac Forming, Laser Cutting, and CNC Routing – both on flatbeds and on our 7-axis Kuka robot arm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on support to Designers by contributing to the creation of detailed construction drawings, technical models and other design deliverables.  
  • Oversee and actively participate in the preparation of 2D drawings for CNC/laser cutting and 3D models for 3D printing/milling, ensuring designs are production-ready.
  • Ensure that designs are viable for Fabrication, shipping, installation and meets clients expectations. 
  • Review and refine construction drawings and technical models, ensuring they meet internal standards, client specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Act as a mentor to Designers by sharing technical expertise to improve overall design quality and efficiency.
  • Apply your knowledge of materials, fabrication processes, and manufacturing techniques to provide practical design solutions and ensure designs are manufacturable.
  • Support client communication efforts by gathering design requirements, preparing presentations, and ensuring feedback is accurately implemented into design deliverables.
  • Implement and maintain document control processes to ensure all design files are well-organized, easily accessible, and up-to-date.
  • Identify risks and propose practical strategies to mitigate potential delays or challenges in project execution.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re seeking an ambitious and experienced individual to perform at a high level. The ideal candidate will possess:

  • 3+ years of experience in a design-related role, preferably in entertainment, theme parks, retail environments, or immersive installations.
  • Proficiency in 3D design software such as Revit, Rhino, Inventor or similar tools.
  • Knowledge of fabrication techniques including CNC routing, 3D printing, metalwork, and woodworking.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings and technical documentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach to design challenges.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with clients, team members, and internal departments.
